Check Traffic to Work or Home in google maps

You can take a an idea of what traffic patterns are to your work or home at any time by using the Google Maps on your smartphone. Follow these steps.

From Android

  1. Launch Google. Open ” Google” application.
  2. Choose”Menu” from the ” MenuMenu Button icon located in the lower-right-hand corner.
  3. Click down until you reach the ” Commute” section, then choose”View all settings” and then click on the ” View all settings” option.
  4. Scroll down , and click to reveal the “Home” icon. Then type the address for your home. Click ” OK” after you’re done.
  5. Touch to open the icon for the Briefcase icon, and then write the address for your work. Click ” OK” after you’re finished.
  6. Start your ” Google Maps” app and then search for ” Home” or ” Work.
  7. Choose the navigation arrow in order to switch to the navigation mode.
  8. Find a place to start (Home and Work).
  9. When browsing, tap”Traffic” icon located in the upper right corner, and then select ” Traffic“.
  10. The areas on the street will be painted with an orange color that indicates the level of traffic on them.
    • The color green indicates light traffic.
    • Orange means moderate traffic.
    • Red = Congested.

From Desktop Browser

  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. Then, in the ” Search Google Maps” field enter ” Work“. If you’ve never established your work address prior to now, you’ll be asked to enter the address for work.
  3. Within the ” Search Google Maps” field enter ” Home“. If you’ve not previously set your home’s location you click the button, you’ll be asked to enter your address for work.
  4. To view the traffic patterns on any map click ” Menu” > ” Traffic“.
  5. The streets will be colored to show the amount of traffic on the street.
    • “Green” means light traffic.
    • Orange means moderate traffic.
    • Red = Congested.
